How this great event came about:
Miatas At Summertime, formerly Miatas At Sevenum, is not an event that was simply thought up on a whim. It’s an idea that had been brewing for years among various friends and acquaintances in the MX-5 community. For years, we kept running into each other at different domestic and even international events, and we would always say to each other, “Such a large MX-5 event should be possible in the Netherlands as well.”
For a long time, it remained just words, but then it became clear that the German event “Treffen Im Pott” could no longer take place in 2017. This was mainly due to the fact that the event site would be redesigned, leaving no space for large-scale car events. During a round at the bar, we jokingly said, “Then let’s do it at our place!”
And so it happened that Miatas at Sevenum was first organized in 2017 as an experiment. It turned out to be a huge success. A large MX-5 gathering modeled after the “Spring Rallye” of the British Club and the “Treffen im Pott” in Germany. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the MX-5 celebration that Mazda Netherlands organized at the RDW site for the 20th anniversary of the MX-5.
In 2018, the second edition followed with even more MX-5 enthusiasts and their cars, making 2018 far exceed the success of the first edition. The success was so great that many people were already eagerly looking forward to the next edition, MAS 2019!!
MAS 2019 promised to be even bigger, better, and more beautiful than the previous editions. And with the 30th anniversary of the MX-5, we were ready to make it an unforgettable weekend!
In 2020 and 2021, we didn’t hold an edition due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but we’re making up for it in 2022.
In 2020, we also had to find a new location, which is why we changed the name of our event to Miatas At Summertime.
In the spring of 2023, a special moment in Miatas history was marked: the year we created a promotional video. This project brought together owners and enthusiasts of the iconic Mazda MX-5 to celebrate the joy and freedom of driving this beloved model. With sun-drenched landscapes, gleaming paint, and the sound of engines whirring, the video captured the unique atmosphere of the Miata community and highlighted the timeless pleasure this car offers. It was a summer to remember, where passion and creativity came together in a cinematic masterpiece.
